This is one of my all time favorite pizzas! The onions are so sweet & perfectly paired with the salty bacon, all on top of the creamy cheese....oh my goodness, it is delicious!
Ingredients:
(See Note)
3 small onions, sliced
1-2 tbsp Olive Oil
Salt & Pepper
4 slices of Bacon, cooked
1/4 cup soft, spreadable Garlic & Herb Cheese (I used Allouette brand)
7 pieces, thinly sliced, Provolone Cheese
1/2- Pizza Dough Recipe
Directions:Cut the onions in half, then slice. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a 10" skillet over medium/ high heat. It looks like a lot of onions, but don't skimp! You're topping a whole pizza & they cook down to practically nothing. Add the additional tablespoon of oil if you need it. Season with salt & pepper.
Cook the onions about 8 minutes, until start to soften. Then lower the heat to medium/ low & cook for another 20-30 minutes, until golden.
Note: This pizza was only a 12", which is less than half of my pizza dough recipe. If you are making a larger pizza, you will need to adjust ingredients accordingly. :)
